TIMEDIF is a Google Sheets add-on that calculates the difference between two times on different days. It is helpful for tracking hours worked, project duration, or event scheduling.
It’s easy to use – select the range of cells with dates and times or enter them directly into the sidebar.
Choose the output units: years, months, days, hours, minutes, seconds, or milliseconds.

Contents
Two Methods
You can provide the starting and ending times using two methods – inside your spreadsheet or in the sidebar.
In the Spreadsheet
TIMEDIF can use times from your spreadsheet and write the output into an adjacent cell.
- Select the range with the dates and times
- Choose which output units you want
- Years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds, and milliseconds
- Press Calculate active range.
In the Sidebar
You can perform all of your calculations without leaving the sidebar.
First, enter the start and end times. We’ll start at 3:00 pm on April 24, 2022, and end at 4:15 pm on February 5, 2023.

Choose the units for the output and click the “Calculate from form ⬆️” button.

TIMEDIF shows the output in the desired units.

These are the only steps to arrive at the time passed between two times on different days.
Pricing
The TIMEDIF add-on is free for seven days, then $14 for a lifetime license. No subscription is needed.
FAQ
Are there limitations on the usage of this app?
TIMEDIF functions per the daily quotas Google imposes on all add-ons and apps. These quotas limit the app’s run time per request and an overall daily run time. The limits are the same in the free and paid versions of TIMEDIF.
