Basic Usage

Using the add-on for multi-stop route calculation is simple.

  • Start by telling the add-on where the locations are in your spreadsheet
  • Designate miles or kilometers and the transit type
  • Click run

The add-on creates a new worksheet with a route based on your inputs. The free features include a list of the stops, time and distance to each, and a link to the route in Google Maps.

With a paid subscription, you can send the route to your phone, optimize the order, and more.

Limitations

RouteTally allows for a maximum of 23 waypoints per request using a paid Google account. This includes the origin and destination, meaning you can effectively have 21 intermediate stops. However, if you’re using a non-paid Google account, the limit is reduced to 10 waypoints, effectively 8 intermediate stops.

You can create 1,000 routes per day with a non-Paid Google account and 10,000 per day with a paid account.

Is RouteTally free to use? Yes! The basic version allows you to calculate multi-stop routes, choose transit modes, and generate Google Maps links for free. Advanced features like route optimization, QR codes, and embedded map images require a Premium subscription.


Usage & Limitations

How many stops can I add to a single route? If you have a paid Google Workspace account (Business/Education), you can have up to 23 waypoints (origin, destination, and 21 intermediate stops). For free/personal Google accounts, the limit is 10 waypoints.

Can RouteTally find the fastest order for my stops? Yes. With a Premium subscription, you can use the “Optimize stop order” feature. This automatically reorders your destinations to ensure you are taking the most efficient path, saving you time and fuel.

Does it support different modes of transport? Yes. You can toggle between Driving, Walking, Bicycling, and Public Transit directly within the add-on sidebar.

What is the daily limit for calculations? Limits are set by Google:

  • Standard Google Accounts: 1,000 requests per day.
  • Paid Google Workspace Accounts: 10,000 requests per day.

Premium & Billing

How do I upgrade to the Premium tier? You can subscribe for $9/month directly through the Stripe payment link or via the “Upgrade” button inside the add-on. Please ensure you use the same email address associated with your Google account.

How do I use the route on my phone? The Premium tier includes a QR Code generator. Simply scan the code on your screen with your smartphone to instantly open the optimized route in the Google Maps mobile app for turn-by-turn navigation.

Can I cancel my subscription at any time? Yes. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through our Subscriber Portal. Your premium features will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle.
