Get Weather Forecasts in Google Sheets 🌤️ Weather Stats Add-On

Importing weather forecast data into your spreadsheet is valuable for planning future business trends or outdoor activities that depend on the weather. This tutorial will cover a technique to directly bring daily or hourly weather forecasts into your spreadsheet.

The Weather Stats Google Sheets add-on automates importing weather forecasts into Google Sheets. Whether you’re looking for temperature, precipitation, or something more obscure, here’s how to start with forecasts extending to 15 days.

Install the Weather Stats Add-On

  1. Open Google Sheets and click on the “Extensions” menu.
  2. Click “Add-ons” then “Get Add-ons.”
  3. Search for “Weather Stats.”
  4. Click “Individual install” to install the add-on.
  5. The add-on is now available in your browser’s side panel.

Using the Add-On

Once you have installed the add-on and choose dates and locations, here’s how to pull your first weather dataset:

  1. Click the “Weather Stats” icon to open the side panel
  2. Choose between “Hours” or “Days”
  3. Select the cell range with your dates
  4. Select the cell range with your locations (address, city, or coordinates)

The add-on uses dates and locations listed in your spreadsheet. You can use any location format, including zip codes, city/state combinations, or place names.

For this example, we’ll look at the weather in three North American parks on July 7, 2024.

Pick the Elements

  • Choose the weather elements you need.
    • In this example, we’ll choose temperature, conditions, and humidity.

  • Click “Run.”

The add-on automatically formats your data in columns, with one row for each location.

Work with the Data

After looking at the forecast data for these three national parks, it looks like Yosemite or Banff has great weather for a summer visit, but you should wait until fall to visit Bahia de Loreto National Park!
